Chicago is...
Our Kind of Town
Summer 2000

Our Mom bought a
book called "DOGGONE CHICAGO" by
Mr. Steve Dale and read it so long we thought maybe she was
studying for a test or something. It lists everywhere in
Chicago that welcomes dogs! Mom said we were going
to Chicago for the weekend. Dad, my sisters Katie and
Becky, and Becky's friend Ted went with us. Mom said that
since this was a very short vacation we could splurge
(whatever that is) on a hotel called The Palmer House.
It was like a big palace where LOTS of people live and
get to their rooms by stepping in little boxes and pushing
number buttons on the wall.

We found out
that Chicago is a lot bigger than Columbus.

A very big lion
lives there, but those nice
people in Chicago put him in his crate for the
weekend, so we were safe.

The trains there
fly right over your head.

We went down to
the gardens.

And then to the
harbor on the lake.

We tried to stay
clean so Mom wouldn't
have to give us a bath.

We ate dinner at
very nice restaurants, like
Nick and Tony's.
Here we are with Dad and Katie.

We had to be
VERY GOOD!

Ted and Becky
were there and slipped us a few treats!

We met our
friends John, Mary, and Annie at a restaurant
called BICE. Instead of rhyming with MICE, it actually
sounds like BEE-CHAY. We though maybe they really
meant BEE-CHON. They welcomed us with our own
bowl of water!

We also went to
Navy Pier

And went on a
boat ride!

Some of us got
very tired.

There were some
nice perches in Chicago.

But Dad had to
help me up.

Just HOW TALL is
that building?

VERY, VERY tall!

We were sorry to
leave such a nice city.
But we were also glad to be home and have
a really good nap!
